Can you give us a brief overview of your latest book? Is it part of a

‘Evergreen’ is the third book in
the Smoky Blue series. Leilani has
come to Tennessee in search of her birth father and a bone marrow transplant
for her daughter. She falls in
love with Bradley Barstow, who longs for a traditional family of his own-the
last thing she can ever give him.
Have you ever had a minor character evolve into a major one? Did that change the direction of the novel at all?

Not exactly. Since I write my plots ahead of time,
the characters pretty much stay as they were first conceived. However, I have had many minor characters cry out for, and
get, their own stories. In the
Texas Hill Country series, Cathy and Beto, Christi and Tommy Joe, Russ and
Angie, Emily and Jason, and Misty and Alex all started out as minor characters. In the Smoky Blue series, Timberlynn and
Sawyer and Caitlyn and Tanner appear first as supporting characters.

It depends on which of my writing
careers we’re talking about. Back
in the 1980’s, Candlelight bought my second book. In 2012, Boroughs bought my first attempt to write for them.

I write between one and seven or
eight in the evening, or until my brain gets tired. I need silence to work.

I have four more books plotted and ready to write.
