Interview with Amy L Gale, BLISSFUL DISASTER

Can you give us a brief overview of your latest book? Is it part of a series?
It’s an accompaniment to Blissful Disaster, same characters but they can all be read as stand alones.

Blissful Disaster
One night stands.
Career-driven Ali Whitman, never dreamed of having one, until she finds herself waking up next to a handsome tattooed man she knows nothing about. After celebrating her promotion to field reporter at Entertainment Rocks! magazine, she breaks her number one rule - to focus on work without the distraction of the opposite sex.

Tyler Young lives by his own set. As bassist for Devil’s Garden, he exudes sexual energy and lives for the moment; no strings attached, no regrets, and no looking back.

When the two are brought face to face during an interview it goes sour, sparking a string of disasters. As their feelings for each other grow, they find themselves living by a new set of rules, but demons from the past haunt their new found love. Is it possible to crawl from the ashes of the aftermath or will it all go down in flames?

Perfect bliss or complete disaster?

Do you have a favorite character?
Lexie is my favorite. I find her most like myself.

Have you ever had a minor character evolve into a major one? Did that change the direction of the novel at all?
Yes, Jenna evolved into a major character and the plot wouldn’t be the same without her.

Did you try the traditional route to publishing, i.e. querying agents/publishers?
Yes. I’m with a small press (5 Prince Publishing) which I queried and was lucky enough to be offered a contract.

How long before you got your offer of representation/your first contract? Was it for your first novel?
It was a year and a half with my first novel Blissful Tragedy

Are you currently under a traditional publishing contract for future books or do you have manuscripts that you will self-publish? Are you doing both?
I do both.

If you used a graphic designer/publisher’s designer, how involved were you during the creative process for your cover?
5 Prince Publishing let me have a lot of say in the cover design and editing process

Do you belong to a critique group? Have they helped improve your writing?
I have a few critique partners that help me tremendously.

What is your writing process? Do you listen to music or do you like silence?
 I like complete silence

Do you outline your story or just go where your muse takes you?
I outline my characters and my stories to stay organized.

Did you hire an editor to review your manuscript before publishing?
Not before submitting but if I self-publish I hire an editor.

What have you’ve learned during your self-publishing journey?
Marketing is extremely important so always have a marketing budget and make time for marketing.

Besides Amazon, are there any other sites where your books are for sale?
Yes, Barnes and Noble, Itunes, Kobo.

What kinds of marketing [twitter, facebook, blog, forums] are you involved with for promoting your book(s)?
Twitter, Facebook, Blogs, Ads.

Do you find it difficult to juggle your time between marketing your current book and writing your next book?
Yes, I plan marketing and writing time to make sure I get everything done.

Besides writing, do you have any other passions?
I love to bake, go to rock concerts, and sink my feet in the sand at the beach.

What’s next for you?
I’m participating in three box sets this year and then maybe working on another rock star romance.
